Hiking enthusiasts are invited to join the National Taskforce on Wellness’ hike on Saturday, May 27, starting at Applewhaites Plantation, St. Thomas, at 6:15 a.m.
It is free to all participants, who are advised to be on location by 6:00 a.m. The hike is approximately nine to 10 kilometres and will pass along the outskirts of Jack-in-the-Box Gully, covering parts of St. Thomas and St. George, before returning to Applewhaites Plantation. The terrain is relatively flat.
Persons who are not sure of their physical fitness should consult with their medical doctor before participating. Hikers are advised to bring sufficient drinking water and healthy snacks to stay hydrated and energised.
Participants are also advised to wear suitable clothing to protect their skin when going through bushy areas. Appropriate enclosed shoes that will not cause sliding are also necessary.
