Hillaby Turner’s Hall Remains Open As Health & Safety Measures Continue

The Ministry of Health and Wellness in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Transformation continues to support efforts to ensure a safe and healthy environment at Hillaby Turner’s Hall Primary School.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness has conducted site visits and provided technical guidance to address the concerns raised. On the advice of the Environmental Health Authority, classes were temporarily shifted from the hall to facilitate ongoing cleaning and remedial works. These measures include enhanced sanitation, installation of door sweeps, placement of traps, and the installation of additional screens to further reduce the risk of pest entry.

While rodents are a natural part of the environment, particularly in areas with human activity, the Ministry of Health and Wellness is satisfied with the remediation measures implemented to date, and will continue to support the school in maintaining appropriate environmental health standards. The Environmental Health Officer also noted that no new droppings were observed during inspections conducted on May 11 and 12, 2026.

Based on the advice of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the school can safely remain open while final measures are completed. The Ministry of Education Transformation continues to work closely with school leadership to ensure clear communication with parents and the effective management of the situation.

Both Ministries remain committed to safeguarding the wellbeing of students, staff, and the wider school community, and will continue to monitor the situation closely.
