Mental Health Symposium For Youth On April 29
Youth from across all strata of Barbadian society will be given the opportunity to discuss several issues related to mental health at month-end.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness, in collaboration with the Caribbean Public Health Agency, Ross University School of Medicine, the Healthy Caribbean Coalition and Let’s Unpack It, will host a Youth Mental Health Symposium at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, on Tuesday, April 29. It will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
A pre-event to the 69th Annual CARPHA Health Research Conference, scheduled for May 7 to 9, in Barbados, the upcoming youth symposium targets students from secondary and tertiary institutions, communities, advocacy groups, and service institutions. Its theme is The Future We Envision, and the subtheme is Mek it mek sense!
Participants will be offered a chance to let their voices be heard regarding awareness, access to services, and service delivery with respect to mental health.
There will also be a panel discussion, presentations, group sessions, and the sharing of experiences. Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Davidson Ishmael, health and non-health officials, and experts are expected to attend.
