The Vector Control Unit of the Ministry of Health and Wellness will conduct its fogging programme in several St. John and St. Michael districts next week.
The team will start its mosquito reduction exercise in St. John on Monday, February 23, when they visit the following areas: Martins Bay, Martins Bay No.1, Zores and Zores No.1, New Castle, Church View Main Road, and surrounding communities.
Fogging will continue in various St. John districts on Tuesday, February 24, including Foster Hall, St. Margaret’s Main Road, St. Margaret’s Village, Glenburnie Nos.1 and 2, and Glenburnie.
The Unit will concentrate its efforts in St. Michael for the remainder of the week.
On Wednesday, February 25, it will spray Constitution Road from its junction to Ellis Road to the Belmont Road Roundabout, Ellis Road, Halls Road, Chase Road, Bibb’s Road, Marl Hole Road, 1st to 3rd Avenues Arthur Land, Simpson Land, St. Hill Road, Belmont Road, Quakers Road, Allen Road, Coal Road, Northam Road, Hunt Road, Chadderton Road, and Tweedside Road.
On Thursday, February 26, the team will target Mahogany Lane, Sobers Lane, Lightfoot Lane, Lightfoot Cross Road, Phillips Gap, Green Park Lane, Tudor Street, Baxter’s Road, Chapman Street, Hunte’s Street, King’s Street, White Park Road, Passage Road, and Kensington Lodge.
Fogging for the week will conclude on Friday, February 27, in Hill Road to its junction with 3rd Avenue Dash Gap, 3rd Avenue Dash Gap, Dash Gap, 1st and 2nd Avenues Bank Hall, Peterkin Lands Nos.1 to 6, Peterkin Gardens, Yearwood Road, Manning’s Land Nos.1 to 4, and Bank Hall Main Road from the corner of Strathclyde Drive to the corner of Hill Road.
Fogging takes place from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily. Householders are reminded to open their windows and doors to allow the spray to enter. Children should not be allowed to play in the fog.
The public is advised that the completion of scheduled fogging activities may be affected by events beyond the Unit’s control. In such circumstances, the Unit will return to communities affected in the soonest possible time.
