Public Warned About Individual Impersonating An Environmental Health Officer

The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MHW) has been notified of a number of incidents where an individual has approached business establishments posing as an Environmental Health Officer and suggesting to the proprietors that they use a particular pest control company to address identified vector control issues.

This matter is of concern to the Ministry of Health and Wellness and has been reported to The Barbados Police Service.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness advises members of the public that anyone claiming to be an Environmental Health Officer must show an official identification card carrying the signature of the Chief Medical Officer.

Environmental Health Officers employed by the Government of Barbados must not solicit business on behalf of any private company while on duty.

If any member of the public is unsure as to whether a person visiting their premises is an Environmental Health Officer, they should call the nearest polyclinic, or the Chief Environmental Health Officer at telephone number 536-3854.
