Wellness Hike Headed To St. Philip In November
The next wellness hike to be held by the National Task Force on Wellness will take place in the parish of St. Philip, on Sunday, November 19, starting from Gemswick Woods, opposite the Maria Holder Nursery, from 6:00 a.m.
Participants will leave Gemswick (formerly Penny Hole), and head towards the trail leading to the High Altitude Research Project (H.A.R.P Gun), where they will be a pause for a brief photo opportunity and history of the project.
Hikers will then traverse the trail passing the Paragon Army Base near the back of the Grantley Adams International Airport by the runway, then head back to the starting point. The terrain will be a mix of some flat roads and hilly areas.
Persons who are not sure of their level of physical fitness should consult with their medical doctor before participating. Members of the public are advised to bring sufficient drinking water and healthy snacks to stay hydrated and energised.
Persons should also wear suitable clothing to protect their skin when going through bushy areas as well as appropriate, enclosed shoes that won’t cause sliding. The hike is free to all participants.
