1st Time Registration
Requirements and Guidelines for Registration as a Medical Practitioner/Specialist
Document Certification and Language Requirements:
- All copies of documents must be certified/notarized by a Justice of the Peace or Notary Public.
- Non-English documents must have a certified/notarized English translation.
- All documents must be legible; illegible documents will be discarded.
Certificate of Good Standing:
- Must be no older than nine (9) months.
- Should be sent directly from the relevant Medical Licensing Authority to the Barbados Medical Council.
Required Supporting Documents for Upload:
- Recent color passport-sized photograph.
- Certified copy of original medical degree/certificate (MBBS/MD).
- Evidence of completing a rotating internship.
- Certified copies of postgraduate certificates (e.g., DM, Boards) if applying for specialist registration.
- Copy of a valid police clearance certificate of character:
- Issued no earlier than six months prior to application.
- Must be from the jurisdiction where the applicant lives or works.
- Detailed curriculum vitae (CV) including biographical data, medical education, postgraduate training, clinical experience, employment history, and research work.
- Photo identification (passport page with identifying information or national ID for Barbadian citizens).
- Proof of English proficiency (IELTS or equivalent) if English is not the first language.
- Any additional documents as required by the Council.
Pre-Evaluation Process:
- After submitting your documents, a preliminary evaluation will be conducted, and you will be notified by email with the outcome.
- If accepted, schedule an appointment online for document verification.
Registration Fees:
- Temporary Registration (valid for six months): BDS $375.00.
- Annual Registration: BDS $1,250.00.
Additional Notes:
The Barbados Medical Council may request further documents or information as necessary.
The final decision on your registration is solely at the discretion of the Barbados Medical Council.
